Sound workshops with
Hector MacInnes

Sound artist Hector MacInnes is reaching out to people living in the Highlands, who have been affected by the criminal justice system, and who are interested in taking part in a creative audio project in the coming months (from September 2021 onwards).

– Perhaps you have a family member or a dependent in prison
– Perhaps you have been to prison yourself
– Perhaps you are serving a supervisory or work sentence
– Perhaps you have worked within the system
– Perhaps you have another perspective we don’t know about?

We’d love to hear from you.

Hector will be doing a series of fun and accessible workshops with sound – online and in person  – leading to participants keeping a sound diary that shares their stories, their experience, and their creativity.

As part of the workshops, participants will decide how (and if) they want their diaries, and their stories, to be shared. They could be brought together into a podcast or radio programme, they could be collected in an online exhibition, they could be … played through a megaphone outside Holyrood?

To find out more, get in touch to have a chat.

If you found out about this project through a social worker or another charity or project, you can also ask them to get in touch on your behalf. If you have any questions or worries about your location, anonymity, accessibility or anything else, please do just ask. We’re really looking forward to hearing from you!

Here are a couple of videos from Hector’s recent project with the Child Poverty Action Group; Covid Realities. You can see more here.
